The Norwich Model Aero Club (NMAC) was founded in 1928 and used RAF Horsham St Faith, now known as Norwich Airport. During WW2 members relocated and used various locations including Eaton Park. The Club moved in 1963 to its current flying facilities at former RAF Coltishall and also more recently obtained the use of an all Grass site near Aylsham.
The Club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA) and has a good mixture of Junior & Senior members. Along with the BMFA, the NMAC is dedicated to “The promotion, protection, organisation and encouragement of all forms of model aircraft building, flying and development in all its aspects...........”
The NMAC covers all varieties of flying styles from general Sport through to Scale and Aerobatic schedules.
The Club is very fortunate to have a generally clear site, free of obstacles as well as varied flight lines as dictated by wind conditions. Parking, pits and flight line areas are well separated to facilitate the safe enjoyment of our sport. The Coltishall site has a very large Tarmac/Concrete area for use as a Runway and grassed areas for “wheels-up” landings. The all Grass site extends to almost 80 acres and free of any obsticales and is available 7 days a week.
Flying Training is available via our in-house “Buddy-Box” system under the supervision of our approved instructors as well as from many of the dedicated members. The Club has Trainer Aircraft available so you can come along with prior arrangement and Fly for FREE before you decide whether to join. The Club also has BMFA registed Instructors and Examiners on hand to assist with ongoing skill deveolpment.
